Urban forestry, ecosystem services
Corey Bassett is a Ph.D. Student at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, BC, Canada, where she is researching urban forest management and ecosystem services. She has worked and lived across the United States, where she has managed statewide urban and community forestry programs and performed arboricultural consulting and municipal tree care. She is very active around issues such as establishing career and mentorship pipelines for early career professionals, setting standards for tree care for wildlife, and connecting urban forestry with related disciplines.
Her research aims to develop an urban forest management action framework, through synthesizing multiple research disciplines and connecting human actions with the ecosystem services they stand to impact.
Outside of school, she can be found biking around the city, spending time with family, and doing way too much volunteering for the International Society of Arboriculture (or maybe not enough?).
