Soil Profile Rebuilding Specification (full spec)

Specification for soil rehabilitation technique (SPR) for soils compacted during land development.  This technique is only appropriate in situations where soil is compacted, especially at depth. You may freely use this specification in your work. This is the full, detailed version that is appropriate for situations where you must accept the lowest bid. A shorter version is also available.

Our research program aims to:

  • understand urban soil heterogeneity and its relation to management, design, and landuse history

  • relate management and landuse history to soil carbon and stormwater mitigation potential

  • develop below ground strategies for trees in urban centers and other highly urbanized locations where space is constrained

  • optimize urban soil management for stormwater mitigation and tree health

  • develop systems for protecting large trees during land development

Why work with the Urban Forest Ecosystems Lab?

What do we do?

UFEL is one of more than six labs that focus on urban forest issues here at the Univeristy of British Columbia. We have a dynamic group of graduate students and faculty as well as a fantastic opportunities to interact with undergraduates through research or teaching. We value partnerships with muncipalities and urban forest professionals to help identify and solve pressing issues for belowground systems.

UFEL also hosts Visiting International Research Scholars through UBC's Go Global. VIRS participants must provide all of their own financial support and bring their own projects.
