Amy Blood, PhD Candidate
Amy’s research focuses on using publicly-accessible data to answer ecological questions about urban environments. Amy began her Ph.D. degree in Geospatial and Environmental Analysis at Virginia Tech and followed her advisor Dr. Day to UBC. Prior, she completed a Master of Science degree in Biology from the University of Alabama, where she studied urban forest biometrics under the supervision of Dr. Christina Staudhammer. Amy loves teaching and has taught several classes (and won a teaching award at Virginia Tech!). Additionally, she holds positions in graduate student associations whenever possible as a means to build community.
Laura Grant, MSc Student
Laura is an MSc student studying urban canopy loss as a result of construction. She holds a BSc in forest health and double minors in urban forestry and environmental writing & rhetoric from the SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry located in Syracuse, New York. Laura’s work experience focuses on arboriculture and implementation of water quality best management practices (BMP). She holds an arborist certification from the International Society of Arboriculture, as well as several certifications focusing on water quality BMP verification.
